"Having a healthy mind is just as important as having a healthy body"

As most of you know, I am a manager at a local children's museum. Every week, we as managers, get together and discuss goals, updates and reflect on the past week.

At our last meeting we discussed "Hansei Kai" which is a Japanese practice of self reflection. This practice is used in many companies across Japan. It is said to increase work flow and keep stress levels at a minimum. It also allows people to accept mistakes they have made and to pledge improvement.

Many of us are busy parents and/or full time workers and we forget to focus on ourselves when get caught up in the craziness of the day.

I've been spending about 30 minutes just self reflecting on the day. This usually takes place right before bedtime with a cup of hot tea. I have a journal to reflect on the day's adventures, mistakes and lessons.

It allows me to accept the things that didn't go too well and plan improvements for tomorrow.

My assignment for you is to have your own Hansei Kai tonight. Think about your day, unwind and be better for tomorrow.

Try It! Let me know your thoughts :)

Here is my example:
