"You're too fat..."
"You're never going to get that promotion..."
"Why do you even try?"
"I'm never going to be good enough..."
These comments cut like a knife don't they? But what if I told you that a new study suggests that women say these things (and other hurtful things) TO THEMSELVES at least 8 times a day. One woman even said that her first self-criticism happens before 9:30am!
8 times a day?!? Before 9:30am?!?
The worst part about this is that I believe it. I believe it because I used to say these things to myself all the time. I never thought I was good enough or skinny enough or smart enough for anything. I put myself down multiple times per day without even realizing it.
The media makes women think that to be successful you need to have beauty, good genes and a boob job but NEWS FLASH LADIES.....you don't need any of these things to be successful OR happy.
Now for those few gentleman who read my blog, I'm not saying that men don't have these feelings too.
Now here's what I want you to do...
Write down these 5 things. You may change them up as you wish.
1. I am beautiful (or handsome).
2. I am smart.
3. I can do this.
4. I will succeed.
and last but not least...
5. I am amazing
Love yourself, because you ARE amazing. By taking these steps into self-acceptance will allow you to be the person you strive to be. I was there, I know what it's like to give myself hate. But once I did away with the negative, I let room in for the positive :)
